After fourteen years in various roles in upper tier local government I moved into the world of local councils as clerk to a medium sized town council. Getting the Annual return right, and having the processes to provide assurance to external auditors, residents and stakeholders is essential, and was always a key focus of my work. I support the work of internalauditforum.org.uk and the SLCC to drive improvement in the sector.

I have a degree in law from Durham University, and, besides my time in local government, have worked for employers as varied as a High Street bank (as a mortgage underwriter) and a major political party (as a supervisor in their communications team). I'm a Member of the Institute of Place Management and of the SLCC.
